Over the last two and a half months I had the opportunity to participate in the AI Winterschool 2024/25 of Collège des Ingénieurs. The focus of this winter school was on central questions such as how AI can contribute to opening up new possibilities for sustainable business models and what impact they will have on our ecological environment.

The AI winter school consisted of two attendance phases, which where linked by one large project. For this purpose, various companies provided real-world use cases. Our group dealt with the petrochemical industry by conceptualizing a dashboard for navigating in an often intransparent regulatory landscape.

The first on-site session took place from 27.11. to 29.11.2024 in Heilbronn (Germany 🇩🇪) and was opened by Frédéric Worms (Director of the Ecole normale supérieure PSL Research University) via keynote speech followed by a lecture by Prof. Rémi Monasson (Ecole normale supérieureCNRS) on energy requirements in artificial and natural neural networks. The scaling of deep learning solutions was examined in more detail in a master class by Arnaud Guérin (founder of Safran.AI (ex Preligens)). With this foundation, the project work of my team began in Heilbronn under the supervision of Hervé Baratte and Jimmi Normann Kristiansen. At the end of this first part of the winterschool, a first concept of using AI to track and predict regulatory momentum for differently classified chemicals was developed. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Dieter Schwarz Foundation for sponsoring the program in Heilbronn, including event location, dinner and accommodation.

The second part took place from 24.01. to 25.01.2025 in Paris (France 🇫🇷) and focused on the finalization of the project work as well as the presentation in the form of a short pitch. I am very pleased to announce that we are one of the 3 teams whose project was awarded with extraordinarily high quality and that we have therefore been given the opportunity to present our dashboard “Momentum Sense” at the Ecole normale supérieure as part of the AI Action Summit 2025, organized by the Présidence de la République.

Finally, I want to thank Collège des Ingénieurs once again, especially Hervé Baratte and Jimmi Normann Kristiansen for their outstanding support and many tips throughout our project, Carolin Huber for the administration of us participants and of course my project team consisting of Thorben Kleine, Maxime Hantute and Marc Hölle for the excellent teamwork.
