From the 23rd to the 29th of March I had the opportunity to participate in the Argentinian-German Wilhelm und Else Heraeus Seminar “Correlations and Dynamics in Low-Dimensional Quantum Systems” in San Carlos de Bariloche (Argentina 🇦🇷) organized by Prof. Dr. Liliana Arrachea (Centro Atómico Bariloche), Prof. Dr. Carlos Balseiro (Centro Atómico Bariloche), Prof. Dr. Joerg Schmalian (Karlsruhe Institute of Technology) and Prof. Dr. Matthias Vojta (Technical University Dresden).

As this event was aimed in particular at PhD students and postdocs, I was the youngest participant and the only Master's student. However, precisely this was a significant added value for me, as I was able to gain many different insights into PhD life as well as the associated challenges and opportunities. As I explicitly mentioned my academic level in my letter of motivation, I am very happy about the trust that the selection committee placed in me and the potential they saw in me.

I would like to express my sincere thanks to my bachelor thesis supervisor Prof. Dr. Lauriane Chomaz for allowing me to present the work of my former research group in the form of a flash talk and poster within this seminar. This was my second poster presentation after the one at the International Conference of Physics Students (ICPS) in Georgia last year and the emerging discussions have been once again a very nice and educating experience.

A cultural highlight of this conference for me personally was traveling to the southern hemisphere for the first time and experiencing the breathtaking landscape of Argentina during an excursion, which you can see on the pictures below.

Finally, I would like to express my deep gratitude to the Wilhelm und Else Heraeus Stiftung for their generous financial support of my participation in this binational Argentinian German seminar by fully covering the hotel and catering costs. I am very happy to have been given the opportunity to gain authentic insights into the scientific world as a PhD student or postdoc and for being able to connect on such an advanced level.
